Protect what matters first
We identify essential loads, their running time and their starting requirements before allocating backup energy.
Reliable Power Solutions
Solar, battery backup, hybrid and off-grid systems designed around how energy is actually used.
Reliable power starts with the actual job: what must keep running, when it runs and what a loss of supply would mean. For hydroponics, pumps, controls, cooling, dosing and monitoring can be production-critical.
We identify essential loads, their running time and their starting requirements before allocating backup energy.
Demand, day and night consumption, battery autonomy, motor starts and expected growth are considered together.
Existing supply, solar equipment, generators, switchboards, roof or ground area and site constraints all shape the design.
System approaches
The right solution may be a focused backup system or a complete independent supply. We match the approach to the application rather than forcing a standard package.
From assessment to handover
Confirm supply, loads, operating priorities, site conditions and existing equipment.
Plan array, inverter, battery, protection and control around the measured need.
Coordinate installation, protection, changeover and integration with the project.
Test operation and provide the relevant drawings, records and handover guidance.
Equipment and protection
Arrays, inverters, batteries, generators, cabling, changeover and protection must work together. The design includes appropriate isolation, surge protection, earthing and load management for the application.
Electrical compliance
Electrical work is completed within the Registered Person and electrical-contractor framework. Commissioning, drawings, records and statutory certification are provided where required by the installation.
How we work
A good solar system starts with understanding what you actually need. Reliable Power Solutions grew naturally from Grow Machines’ commercial hydroponic expertise and the need to keep production systems operating reliably. We combine practical engineering experience with proper design, installation, testing and documentation for hydroponic projects, farms, homes and suitable businesses.
We discuss your electricity use, the equipment the system must support and what you want to achieve: backup power, lower grid consumption, greater energy independence or an off-grid solution.
Where required, we assess the existing supply, distribution boards, roof or mounting area, cable routes, equipment locations, generator arrangements and other relevant site conditions. For hydroponic projects, production-critical loads such as pumps, controls, cooling and plant-support equipment receive particular attention.
We design the solar array, inverter capacity, battery storage, protection and source arrangement around the actual project requirements.
Where appropriate, the design may include a single-line diagram, equipment schedule, physical layout and CAD drawings. Provision for future expansion can be considered where practical. The design fee and its treatment against an installation fee, where applicable, are confirmed in the project quotation before detailed design begins.
The quotation separates main equipment, design and installation work, travel or transport, installation materials and provisional allowances that still depend on final measurements.
Long cable runs and similar items may be allowed for initially and then confirmed once properly measured. Independent inspection and certification, as well as electrical repairs outside the agreed scope, are identified clearly. The formal quotation remains the governing agreement.
Clients may purchase specified major equipment directly from an approved supplier of their choice. Grow Machines can prepare the equipment list and confirm that models, quantities and components match the design. Grow Machines does not require commission on equipment purchased directly by the client.
Any alternative equipment must first be checked for technical suitability and compatibility. The complete order should also be checked at collection or delivery so missing components do not delay the project.
Smaller project-specific materials may be bought as installation progresses against an agreed material allowance or advance. These can include distribution boards, protection devices, cables, connectors, mounting components and earthing materials.
Where this arrangement is used, Grow Machines keeps supporting purchase records and reconciles expenditure after installation. Any unused balance is returned or credited; additional requirements are explained and accounted for. The quotation confirms whether this arrangement applies to a particular project.
Grow Machines can complete physical installation and commissioning work according to the agreed design, including equipment mounting, solar arrays, battery systems, inverters, protection, cable routes, distribution boards, earthing, source switching, communications and monitoring.
Distribution boards are built or selected around the actual project requirements. If unsafe conditions in the existing installation affect safe integration or certification, they are brought to the client’s attention first. Other worthwhile improvements can be recorded separately for future attention.
Wynand Bezuidenhout is a Professional Certificated Engineer and owner of Grow Machines, responsible for Grow Machines engineering, system design and project execution. Grow Machines does not represent Wynand as the person issuing the statutory Electrical Certificate of Compliance.
Electrical installation work is carried out within the Electrical Installation Regulations and under the required general control of an appropriately Registered Person. An appropriately registered external electrical contractor or Registered Person performs the required statutory inspection and testing, and issues the Electrical Certificate of Compliance and statutory test documentation for the approved compliant scope.
Grow Machines supplements the statutory CoC with project-specific technical documentation such as an installation, inspection and commissioning report; final as-built drawing; installation records; battery-safety training; final system-settings record; commissioning evidence; and operating and maintenance guidance. These records support the CoC; they do not replace it.
A solar installation is not complete simply because it produces power. We explain normal operation, battery state of charge, isolation, overloads, monitoring, alarms and practical load management.
Where applicable, this may include moving flexible high-energy loads to good solar-production periods, improving lighting efficiency and using suitable timers or controls. Optional improvements are discussed and quoted for the project. Clients are instructed not to alter protected inverter or battery settings without competent technical advice.
Where lithium-ion battery storage is installed, Grow Machines provides basic battery-safety and emergency-awareness training. This covers a clean, ventilated equipment area, inverter-filter care where required, abnormal battery behaviour and emergency isolation.
Clients are advised to provide a suitable portable fire extinguisher in an accessible strategic position and are informed about its limitations during an established lithium-ion battery thermal-runaway event. This is practical due diligence, not fear-based marketing.
Where a client intends applying for finance, Grow Machines can prepare a technical proposal, equipment specification and project budget for submission to a bank or finance provider.
The lender determines credit approval, interest rates, repayment terms, equipment requirements and any installer, supplier or compliance conditions. Grow Machines is not the credit provider and cannot guarantee finance approval.
